No matter your age or location. You have heard of the word twitter before. Many people have a twitter account. When I say many people I mean over 320+ million and this number is increasing by the minute.
Today you will learn how to twitter like the pros. Sit back relax and prepare to learn how to twitter quick and easy.
How To Twitter
First, you need to create a twitter account if you haven’t already.
What you need to do is go to twitter.com via computer or mobile device with internet access.
Once you are on Twitter’s homepage you will want to click sign up in the top right corner of your screen is where you should see this option.
Now fill in the blanks in the order they are numbered on the image below.
After you have completed this you will now have you a fresh twitter account.
What you do from this point is all up to you. I can give you some ideas if you aren’t sure what direction to head in.
What To Do With A New Twitter Account
You can find your friends or follow people & things you like. Most of the time if you have your phone number listed it will ask you if you want to follow the twitter users in your contacts.
This is possible because they have their phone number listed with their twitter account also. Twitter makes it easy for you to find your friends and your friends to find you.
You can also type in their user name in the search bar and it will pull them up for you to follow that way too. Here is a visual of what I just said.
Once you click that search tab be sure to type in your friend’s username using @ in the front.
If not twitter will show results for every user on their site that has the same or similar user name as the person you are trying to find.
Also, you can follow the people or things twitter recommends for you to follow on the right side of your profile page. You don’t have to follow these people or things and if I’m not mistaking they are randomized by twitter.
So whatever is hot at the moment or something you have interest in will be shown on that right side when you view your profile on a computer. This will look a little different on a smartphone.
How To Add Photos On Twitter
Once you click edit profile you will be shown a screen that looks like this.
You can add your profile and cover/background image now. You will be able to crop and slightly adjust images to fit as best as they can.
From this profile editing page, you can also add your own bio, website, location and birthday. You can also edit your name.
How To Tweet On Twitter
Now that you have a twitter and possibly some friends and followers. You need to interact with them or just establish a presence on twitter.
Click the blue tweet button and once you do that. You will be greeted by a tweet box that will show up at the top of your screen.
You have 140 characters to let your feelings, opinions, shade, love, story etc. Go into this little box for the world to see. If you go over that limit Twitter will not let you post the tweet until you have reduced the text to the limit right at 140 or below.
Once you have your tweet typed and ready simply click the tweet button at the bottom right corner of the box.
Your first tweet should appear and look like this.
That’s all it is to it as far as tweeting text goes. You can add Images, Videos, Gif’s, & an Add Poll. You can also enable or disable your location which will show up in the tweets you tweet and where you are when you tweet them.
You can use the features just by simply following the same process that you did to create your first tweet.
What Does The Home Button On Twitter Do?
The home button shows a feed of tweets and things of your interest. Depending on how many friends you have and how active they are. This can be a long list of scrolling for someone with 1,000+ followers and is following 1,000+ people as well.
So if you aren’t @ directly by someone you will see tweets on the homepage news feed. Showing the most recent first and then it goes from that order on down. It looks like this for me right now.
You can go through and retweet and favorite things you deem worthy of those actions.
How To Use Messages On Twitter
The messaging system is not complicated at all. If you have a fresh twitter account you probably don’t have any messages yet. But over time and the more you use twitter you will get some.
If you click this and you do not have any messages available it will say send a message to get a message and advise you to send a message t someone. You do not have to do this if you do not want to.
It’s easy to use all you have to do is read the messages and choose to respond, block, or report the message you’ve received from another user.
What Is The Notifications Tab On Twitter?
The notifications tab is simply a way twitter can notify you once something has taken place on their website that has something to do with your user account.
You will be notified when someone follows you when your tweets are retweeted and favorited and more.
This will show you a variety of activities that have taken place over time or recently on your twitter account.
How To Retweet & Like Tweets On Twitter
You will find yourself on twitter one day and you will see a tweet or photo/video that you have to retweet or favorite. That’s fine. But what is a retweet? Or what does it mean to favorite something? I will explain below.
A retweet is when you like something. It’s Twitter’s way of letting you react in some way to peoples posts. A retweet will show up on your timeline and count ass a tweet. So when you retweet your tweet number will increase.
How to retweet
The little square with the arrows on the tips. That’s a retweet box and in order to retweet something you have to click it and so on with the process.
Now a favorite is not too much different from a retweet. But a like holds a little more weight than a retweet does. Once you like something it will give you a like tab right beside your follower’s tab. It will look like this.
This is what it will look like after you like someone’s tweet. To like someone’s tweet. Click the heart. That is all you have to do.
To retweet click the square and to like tweets click the heart.
I hope that you found this information useful. I touched on each thing I could think of. But if I left something out or if you have any concerns about something twitter related that I didn’t mention.
Feel free to comment and ill respond as soon as I can. Thank you for reading share this post with someone who can use it. Have a nice day.
