Amazon oh how we love you. I remember a time when Amazon was just a book lovers dream. My how the time has gone by.
Rather you like it or hate it. Amazon is like an online version of Walmart. It’s everywhere and you can’t escape it.
Amazon makes tons of sells by the minute and is growing day in and out.
This is made possible by them offering a plethora of items for you to buy.
If you have never used Amazon or if you are a little confused on how to buy on their site. Then this post is for you. This message will generally be geared towards new buyers on Amazon. But even expert/experienced users can get some valuable tips from what I will mention later in this post.
Sit back relax and keep that debit/credit card in a safe place till this is over.
How To Buy On Amazon
Ok, so you are now on Amazon’s homepage. Which should look something like this. Depending on when you are reading this it may be a little different.
It will show things related to what you have recently looked at or purchased. These are the things that you will see below the search bar. If you haven’t ever purchased anything on Amazon or searched their site for something. Your feed will be filled with whatever is a hot seller at the time or random items picked by Amazon.
How To Search For Items To Buy On Amazon
Once you are on the site you need to search for what you are looking for. It is simple to do this and I will show you exactly how this is done.
This is the search bar. It is usually located at the top of the screen. You will click on this white search bar and type in what you are looking for.
When you type in what it is that you are looking for Amazon will then bring up all the results they have in each department for that item. You can fix that if you’d like.
For example, if you are searching for Goo gone. You know that that is a product that will be located in home & kitchen. So no need for you to see results in other departments like sports, electronics etc.
You can set your search results to only show you items in a particular department. You do this by the All tab at the beginning of the search bar. Once you click that tab it will drop down all the department’s Amazon has to offer on their website.
The departments they have to offer right now are the following.
As you can see there is a department for just about anything you can think of. Trust me if Amazon isn’t selling it. Then it has to be the eighth wonder of the world or something.
You will need to select your department before you type in what you looking for in the search bar.
How To Check Out On Amazon
Now that you have what you are looking for and your cart contains the items you wish to purchase. You will be ready to check out. You do this by simply clicking the checkout cart in the top right area of your screen. This goes for mobile users as well.
Once you click the cart you will be directed to the checkout screen. You will be asked somewhere throughout this process by Amazon if you would like to join their prime membership buyers. Prime allows you to get your items in two days. Along with the following.
Unlimited deliveries with no minimum order size
Unlimited videos to watch while you wait
This feature is great and even better if you need your items in a hurry. But it isn’t necessary to have and it’s like $100 annually. At least that’s what it was the last time I checked. It may be different now. All I know it isn’t free.
I’m personally not a prime member and I get my orders on time without any issues just fine. So don’t feel pressured to join this if you don’t want to.
You will then need to decide whether you want to become a member or not. Then proceed with checking out.
Once you get to the last screen you will have your totals and you will be able to see all the items you have in your cart.
You need to follow four last steps and this process will be complete.
Follow them in the numerical order that they are given in.
Type in your shipping address – This is where the item will be shipped to
Choose your payment method – This is how you will pay for your item/items. Paypal is not accepted on Amazon.
Choose your delivery option – This is where you will decide how fast you want to get your items. Each selection has its own unique delivery date and the prices change accordingly. The sooner you choose to get the item the more you will pay. It is the opposite for the later you choose to get the item.
Click place your order – Once you have reviewed all the information you just put in. If it all looks correct and the way you desire it to be. Then all you need to do at this point is click place your order and that’s it.
Here is a visual of what I just mentioned above.
You will get a confirmation email from Amazon letting you know that they have received your order request.
Now you can sit back and wait for your item to arrive. You will be able to track your order/orders. Once Amazon ships them they will send you another email letting you know that your item has shipped and in that same email, it should have either the delivery date or tracking number/numbers for your item/items. In most cases both with be located somewhere in the email.
Thars all it is to it. You now have the information you need to properly buy on Amazon. I hope that this helped you. Feel free to leave a comment and share this post with someone who needs it. Thank you for stopping by and have a nice day.
